Job Purpose/Summary of Position: 
Under direct supervision of the Training Manager and the Education and Development Department, trains and develops a 911 Emergency Communications Specialist (ECS) into a proficient employee, who is capable of functioning independently to support the mission of the agency, “To get the right people, to the right place, at the right time, better than anyone else in the world.” 
Job Responsibilities/Duties: 
  • Monitors the job training performance of 911 Emergency Communications Specialist.
  • Review, evaluate, and document the performance progress of trainees, in accordance with the established standard evaluation guidelines and directives of the agency, via a daily observation report.
  • Document the progress of trainees through a daily observation report (DOR) via the agency approved DOR software.
  • Provide constructive strength-based feedback.
  • Employ a variety of teaching and coaching techniques to train the functions of the agency.
  • Recommending a trainee as fully trained or needing additional and/or remedial training.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for the 911 Emergency Communications Specialist regarding professionalism, ethical behavior, agency policies, procedures and practices, attendance, and dress code.
  • Attend updated CTS training meetings and/or courses.
Application Requirements:
At the time of appointment to the program, the Emergency Communications Specialist should meet the following requirements:
1.   Be a permanent employee in compliance with OPCD SOP 2.1.3 – Minimum Certification Requirement.
2.   No adverse disciplinary action in the last six (6) months.
3.   Applicant must obtain a letter of recommendation from the appropriate Operations Manager.
4.   No less than an 80% compliance level on calls evaluated in the last six (6) months.
5.   Must be able to attend and successfully complete a 24-hour certification course.
      a)    Two (2) certification opportunities will be offered, A side and B side.
      b)   Certification opportunity will be provided by the agency.
